Have you ever been left abandoned on a Friday night of a long
weekend with a load that just has to cross the border into the
USA or you lose your contract? AND your broker stops answering
the phone at 4:30 pm.
Well just that exact scenario happened to our company. So who
you are you going to call?
To explain our situation a little better, we provide a service
in Canada and the USA for motorcycle races, we have to cross on
a short notice to various race tracks for scheduled events and
it is absolutely imperative that we cross on time, otherwise the
event cannot run and this would result in an absolute disaster,
not mention hundreds of thousands of dollars and at some major
events into the millions.
So what do you do? After the panic has subsided you get on the
phone. I managed to get a hold of friendly young lady at Bay
Brokerage her name was Amy Jo, I explained my situation and she
did some digging found out about a problem that had been created
by my current broker but said she was unable to fix it because
of its severity, and we might have to wait until Tuesday, the
panic sets in again and I told her that was not an option the
event would be over along with my contract and sole source of
income, so she said I will see what I can do and call you back,
and that she did. Next thing I get a call at 8:00pm from the
President of the company Ken Carmon calling from his daughters
pool party, I once again explained my dilemma and he said he
would make some calls and see what he could do, he called me
back and told me to send in my info and someone would call me in
the morning and get it done. At 7:00am Saturday morning I
receive a call from Kathi Wozniak the Vice President of the
company no less who could be described as a no nonsense colorful
kind of lady and she has already got the ball rolling, by noon
that day my driver was across the border like a breeze and we
made the event just in the nick of time.
The essence of my story is, when it just has to be there call
Bay Brokerage, you won’t be disappointed.

I would just like you to know that, on Friday evening Frank
Schroyens & Sons had a shipment going to Yonkers NY. We
experienced many problems with E-Manifest and Entry #. But,
Carol who did tell me she had to be gone by 3am. stuck it out to
see that that load was cleared until 6:30am. So, I would just
like you to know that people like that are far and few in
between, she was truely concerned about our load and getting
that driver to his destination. I have thanked her personally
over the phone on Saturday to let her know that what she did for
us and the driver did not go unnoticed. Thankou, for such a

Bay Brokerage’s current service level is as great as ever!
We send in shipment documents electronically at the end of our
work day, and they’re always certified by the time we get in the
next morning. We haven’t had a shipping delay due to customs
clearance in years.
The few times Customs has requested additional info, Bay’s staff
has been very clear in what they needed from us in order to
settle the issue at hand – that definitely puts us at ease. Bay

We have had many difficulties in the past exporting into the US since September 11th, but that all changed when we hooked up with Bay Brokerage. What we like most about dealing with Ken, Kathi and their excellent staff, is their determination to help us each step of the way. Also, worth mentioning is their total dedication to their profession, if a simple answer isn’t at their fingertips, they will research the most complicated issue until they have found all the answers for us. They are always available 7 days a week 24 hours a day. They are indeed, only a phone call away. Therefore, they come through for us, and we in turn come through for our clients. It is a ‘Win Win Situation’ for everyone.
For the record, my personal favorite service that they offer to us is the pre-clearance (PAPS) complete with prior notice. A big client of ours exports foodstuffs to the US and obtaining a prior notice is involved with each and every shipment we do. Before we moved with Bay Brokerage these Prior Notices could take up to 3 hrs to file with US Customs on line. So one can only imagine the headaches and grief that this caused to us. This is now done miraculously when we enter our shipments into their wonderful software, better known to all as ‘ProShip’. I am happy to admit that I can sleep better knowing ahead of time that everything is okay with our shipments and if a problem should arise it can be addressed and corrected quickly.
We would highly recommend ‘Bay Brokerage’ to all exporters moving freight into the US Market. They are indeed a ‘Step above the Rest’.

Please be informed that I have been an export manager for MacEwen Petroleum Inc for the past 14 years.
In this period of time we have done business with several brokers.
We recently changed to Bay Brokerage (May 2004) for two reasons.
1) First of all we were involved in a crisis where as our trucks were being delayed for hours at several border crossings. With one call to Bay Brokerage the problem was not only solved, but a new electronic system was put in place in which our trucks now cross faster than they have in the past 20 years.
2) I believe the credit must go to the Bay Brokerage staff who are not only always willing to help, but will stay with the problem until it is resolved, regardless of time of day or night.
